Frequently Asked Questions at Registration

Q.  My child has never played lacrosse before. Is this program appropriate for them?
A.  Our number one goal is for all players to have fun and continue to play in future years. Our program is designed to be a developmental program offering the same opportunities for those who have played before and those who are new.  Our coaches teach fundamental skills and concepts of the game and design practices to best serve players of all skill levels. Lacrosse is a sport where every every player, regardless of experience will have ample playing opportunity if they want.

Q. I played at a high level growing up and I want to provide my child the same opportunty. Is this program appropriate for them?
A. Yes, some players at the league play level play both club and town lacrosse. Most club teams schedule around town programs in the spring.

Q. What program do I sign my child up for?
You must register your child for participation according to their age on September 1 following USA Lacrosse rules.  For insurance and league participation reasons we cannot allow players to participate in program levels for which they are not eligible.

Q. My child is also involved in other sports or extracurricular activities.  What about conflicts?
A. We know that many of our players have several activities scheduled for any given week and we understand that there are conflicts.  We work with other programs in town to minimize conflicts and to allow our players to meet their other obligations. Communication between coaches and families will iron out most conflicts and allow for participation in lacrosse.

Q. How will I hear about cancellations, practice changes, games schedules, etc?
A. Most of our communication is by email and some by bulletins on our web site.  At registration, please give us your preferred email address and then make sure that the address given will accept emails from LeagueAthletics.com.  If your contact information changes during the season, please go to Edit My Account and make the necessary changes. Regular checks of our website will allow you to see bulletins as they become available.

Q.  My child is new to lacrosse, what equipment is required?
A.  There is required equipment to participate.  Please review our Equipment tab for a detailed breakdown.

Q.  Do all levels play games and travel
A.  Ministix (6U) and Grades 1/2(8U) are in-town programs with no formally organized games. Games start at Grade 3/4 (10U) playing against Founders Girls Lacrosse League Teams from towns including Acton-Boxboro, Concord-Carlisle, Hopkington, Northboro-Soutboro, and Westford. Game scores are kept but standings are not maintained and there are no playoffs.
